Security in-a-Box

The guides in this toolkit cover basic principles, including advice on how to use social media and mobile phones more safely. The guides offer step-by-step instructions to help you install, configure and use some essential digital security software and services. Security in-a-Box is jointly developed by Front Line Defenders and Tactical Technology Collective, along with a global network of thousands of activists, trainers and digital security experts.

Privacy Tools is a not-for-profit organisation that provides services, tools, and knowledge to protect your privacy against global mass surveillance, and moderate a thriving community of privacy-minded individuals like yourself to discuss and learn about new advances in protecting your online data.

Surveillance Self-Defence

Surveillance Self-Defence (SSD) is a guide by the Electronic Frontier Foundation (United States) to protect yourself from electronic surveillance all over the world. Some aspects of the guide will be useful to people with very little technical knowledge, while others are aimed at an audience with considerable technical expertise and privacy/security trainers. Areas include 'Building A Security Plan', 'Attending a Protest', 'Protecting Yourself on Social Networks', 'Creating Strong Passwords', 'Using Signal', etc.

Digital Rights Watch

Digital Rights Watch strategically defends digital rights in Australia. They maintain a database of helpful tools, guides, and resources that you can use to help protect yourself online.

TOR Project

The TOR Project is a not-for-profit organisation that believes everyone should be able to explore the internet with privacy. They advance human rights and defend your privacy online through free software and open networks.

PRISM Break

Help make mass surveillance of entire populations uneconomical. We all have a right to privacy, which you can exercise today by encrypting your communications and ending your reliance on proprietary services. PRISM Break provides an archive of alternative software and Open Source digital tools.
