Activism, Surveillance, and Digital Security Awareness

Last year, activists across the world raised concerns about the use of AI Facial Recognition technology to intimidate and stifle protest. Such use is only the latest in a well-documented encroachment on citizens’ ability to freely protest.

As a part of the Victorian Law Foundation’s Law Week 2021, join Melbourne Activist Legal Support for a public panel discussing what surveillance technologies are being used, who is using them, what our Charter says about them, and why we should care.

Hear activists and experts in digital security and technical surveillance tools and human rights discuss their concerns and join in a community Q&A. Event is free and open to the public. Limited booking for in-person due to COVID regulations, but event can be attended online as well.

All are welcome and questions encouraged!
